Arts-Based Educational Research

Re/Claimed is a part of an on-going quest to re/present experiences of learning disability for myself and others like me in non-standard ways. In this instance, journaling, stripping, and altering pages of a venerated 1961 learning disorders textbook results in original works of art that juxtapose old knowledges with fresh perceptions. The intention is to challenge mainstream stereotypes of learning disability by opening opportunities for us to be seen, understood, and known as embodied, multidimensional beings with unique sets of abilities.
